To earn your CDA Credential, you must complete the following:

120 hours of formal early childhood training
480 hours of work experience with children
Professional portfolio

Step 2 -- Gain Work Experience

You must have at least 480 hours of experience working with children in a licensed childcare setting.

Your CDA portfolio includes:

Professional philosophy
This portfolio is required before you apply for your CDA.

Step 4 – Submit Your CDA Application

You will apply through the Council for Professional Recognition.

You will need:

Training certificates

Step 5 – Verification Visit

A CDA Professional Development Specialist will:

Observe your work with children
Review your portfolio
Conduct a reflective dialogue

Step 6 – Take the CDA Exam
